Autumn Term 2017

Observational 'Rubbish Scene' Drawing

Year 7 spent 4-5 weeks completing a detailed observational drawing.  They developed their drawing skills and learnt new techniques during this drawing.

The drawing was broken down into individual steps, to ensure a high-quality drawing was produced:

  • Basic line drawing - comparing proportions, considering scale, using sketching skills, evaluating and making improvements.

  • Adding perspective - drawing a base line, adding a background of their choice, adding a foreground.

  • Adding details - using the formal elements to finish the drawing e.g. tone, texture and patterns.

Drawing a tyre from a different angle, where the tread is not seen and using one-point perspective proved a challenge to many.  Children were resilient when completing this drawing and they are proud of what they created:

"This is my best drawing I have ever done."

"I was worried what it would look like and now I'm really pleased with how it looks, now it is finished."

We are pleased to announce that we converted to Academy Status as part of Wimborne Academy Trust on 1st July 2018 and that we have been awarded Unicef’s Gold Rights Respecting School Award
